Bronx Teacher Beats Up a Student Who Took $4,000 of His Money in a Drug Deal

A high school teacher was put behind bars on Friday [September 23], after he assaulted and robbed a student who allegedly owed him $4,000 from a drug transaction the teen was paid to carry out, but never completed.

Students at the John V. Lindsay Wildcat Academy in Bronx, NY, knew Kevin Pope, 48, as a science teacher at the school, until he began asking around for anyone who could score him an abundant amount of marijuana, last June. He found a willing student, who promised he was able to acquire what Pope needed but hadn’t seen the teen until he bumped into him blocks away from the Hunts Point school building, three months later. Upon being confronted, the student told him that he attempted to land the purchase but was $3,000 short of the sum required for the weight he wanted. He then told Pope that he had since spent the money, prompting the teacher to punch him several times in the face and take his iPhone, wallet, and gold chain, before demanding that he needed to be reimbursed within a month or he’d be coming to rape his mother, according to reports.

The 16-year-old victim is reported to have required surgical staples to close gashes on the back of his head. Pope was taken into custody at 10 a.m. and his arraignment was pending on Friday night.
