Genius men wear uniforms. The same outfit everyday. Interesting concept.
So there I was one day doing the dreadful task of cleaning my clothes. And I have a lot of clothes. A trip to the cleaners often feels like I’m going shopping again. It cost damn near the same. And no matter how many items of clothes I buy I often walk into my closet and say to myself “I have nothing to wear.” My whole life I have had a love affair with fashion. I simply like to be well groomed and nicely dressed. I like to present the impression of a man in control so I want every item of clothing to look planned and organized. A control thing. But as my days get busier this often became a tedious task that takes up more time than wanted. So I had a moment of clarity. A lightbulb went off over my head! A uniform. Most professional men wear uniforms. Doctors wear a white coat. Judges wear a black rob. Soldiers were fatigues, etc etc. Spiderman, Superman, Batman they all have a uniform. Even the President of the United States wear a uniform. Genius. I mean think about it, if you had to go save the world the last thing you want to do is think about “What am I going to wear?” So you throw on your uniform. An outfit that serves the purpose and is equipped to do everything you need to do your daily job and routine. Genius.
(Filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock)
Now a guy like me that appreciate fashion has an issue with a boring uniform. Then I noticed there have been some very good dressers that also wore a uniform with class. Filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock is well recognized for his signature black and white suit that he always wore. And his genius shows in his work lunatic work ethic. Arguably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Genius.Â
Rapper Slick Rick is famous for his signature look of a kangol and excessive jewelry with a patch over his eye. Although he actually has a real issue with his eye he could have easily wore sunglasses. But the patch is a signature look like a rich pirate that just robbed a village of all their gold. Not quite what you think of when you think of a drab uniform. But definitely a signature look that many have tried to duplicate. Pretty fresh I must say. (I personally look at Slick Rick and Big Daddy Kane the way most kids look at Superman or Batman.) And as an entertainer having a signature look is pretty genius because your instantly recognized by your own personal appearance. If you gather a room full of rappers, I guarantee you Slick Rick will be one of the first spotted out of everyone. Genius.

Furthermore a uniform allows a man to free his mind for other more important decisions. Apple founder Steve Jobs wore a black T shirt everyday. And the world was blessed to see where his genius was applied to in technology making the world a better place. Chances are you are reading this right now on apple technology. Now do you even care what the creator had on when he invented it? Genius.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg joined the “same outfit everday” party announcing: “I really want to clear my life to make it so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community.”
(Mark Zuckerberg:: Facebook Founder & CEO)
Now wearing a uniform of the same clothes every day will not get you on the cover of GQ magazine as the worlds best dressed man. But I thought about how much more I would get done if I used that extra energy to focus on work. And I began to think about how many times I claimed something was out of my budget for work, but I had thousands of dollars of items of clothing in my closet that I barely wore. It was almost a no brainer for me to find a uniform. From this idea I came up with the #TooRealForTV #CERTIFIED T shirt. Not only is it now my uniform but It says I am #CERTIFIED at what I do. A professional. You can trust me to get the job done. Be CERTIFIED in whatever you do. And my uniform is fresh. What is your uniform?
