TRENTON — Three Trenton men are facing charges they shot paintballs at people as they drove throughout the city Sunday.
Pharoah Goins, 37, Jeffrey Hoffman, 25, and Michael Mendez, 24, each face aggravated assault and weapons charges.
Lt. Stephen Varn says police on Sunday had received several reports of paintball shootings involving a dark green car when they learned of another incident at about 7:41 p.m. A 41-year-old man had been struck in the head by a paintball on the 100 block of East State Street.
As officers were en route, they spotted the suspected vehicle matching the description and license plate number and made a traffic stop at Oxford and Southard streets, Varn said.
Police approached the car and saw several paintballs rolling around the floorboard, three backpacks that contained air tanks and a large bag of paintballs and two paintball guns, which were barely concealed, Varn said.
The trio was ordered out of the car and taken into custody. Hoffman also faces possession and intent to distribute CDS charges after the officers confiscated a baggie with suspected marijuana and a digital scale, Varn said.
They were released pending court dates.
