Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Quits Trump Advisory Council After Widespread Backlash
Nice work with the #DeleteUber campaign, everyone. That shit worked. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick is quitting Trump’s advisory council, sources first revealed to Recode‘s Kara Swisher Thursday afternoon. Shortly after, Kalanick sent a letter to employees confirming he had spoken briefly with Trump about his widely panned executive order on immigration and had decided to remove himself from the council.
“Joining the group was not meant to be an endorsement of the President or his agenda but unfortunately it has been misinterpreted to be exactly that,” Kalanick told employees. “I spent a lot of time thinking about this and mapping it to our values.” The position on the council, Kalanick added, was not meant as an endorsement of Trump or his policies.
“Please know, your questions and stories on Tuesday, along with what I heard from drivers, have kept me resilient and reminded me of one of our most essential cultural values, Be Yourself,” Kalanick said. “We will fight for the rights of immigrants in our communities so that each of us can be who we are with optimism and hope for the future.” Peep the full letter here via Recode.
Good news indeed. So maybe now we can tackle the equally troublesome bullshit referenced below?

The test which was the first since South Korea elected a new president, follows a ballistic missile test launch which many U.S and South Korean officials say failed. While reports are […]

Rupert Murdoch and his sons James and Lachlan, who run 21st Century Fox, made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. “After a thorough and careful […]
Every so often, a photograph cuts through the grim cacophony of the war in Syria and pierces viewers’ hearts. It happened in 2015 with an image of the lifeless body of Alan Kurdi, face down on a beach in Turkey, who drowned in the Mediterranean fleeing the war. It happened last year when a photographer […]
President Donald Trump is breaking with modern precedent in his refusal to succumb to pressure to publicly release more information on his past tax payments on the day that every American is expected to privately file theirs. For the past 40 years, every US president and presidential candidate has released tax documents. In 1973, while […]
Early Friday morning local time, the United States launched a cruise missile attack on Syria. The 59 Raytheon Tomahawk cruise missiles were sent in retaliation for the Syrian regime’s chemical weapons attack on rebel-held territory in the northern part of the country on April 4. That attack, which used sarin, killed dozens and made hundreds sick. The […]
